Welcome to my website!August 7, 2021
Dear Darnell Family, It's the start of another school year. Even though things are uncertain right now, I'm excited to share that Music Class will continue this year in person! We will be able to do almost everything we have done together in the actual Music Room! Please use the navigation at the top of the page (or the drop down menu if you're using a tablet or phone) to navigate. I post my music schedule, parent resources, and much more! The August Welcome Newsletter with information about Music Classes will go home to Darnell families the first week of school. Please look for it in your Infinite Campus Message Center or on your student's Canvas Music Class Announcements. Please contact me with questions or concerns by email or Class Dojo. Below is a list of needs for the Music Room. Thank you for your help.
Ms. Van Eaton Proud Darnell ES Music Teacher since 2005 Great American AwardsHere are a few videos to help fifth graders with their Great American Awards. Students, if you find a video you like, please email the link and I'll add it to our list!
Preamble to the Constitution Presidents in the Order of their Presidency States and their Capitals RecordersUPDATE: Recorder instruction at Darnell has suspended until the CCSD COVID mitigation strategies lighten. We will begin playing ukulele in place of recorder to still meet the melody standards. Thank you for your understanding.
Students in grades 4 and 5 will continue with their learning and playing of the soprano recorder throughout the year. Students in grade 3 begin recorder in February or March of the school year. The learning and playing of the recorder is a school district requirement. While the school will provide a fully-sterilized instrument for each student to use for the entirety of the school year, students cannot take this recorder home with them to practice. I strongly encourage parents and students to purchase their own recorder to use at home. Purchase of the right recorder will help the student to play better, sound better, and feel better about their playing. In addition, the ability to practice at home will raise their level of understanding and help them perform better on recorder tests. Recorder Kits cost $7.00 -- Please see the recorder sale flier for more information on how to obtain a recorder for your child. We sell these items as a fundraiser to maintain and repair our classroom xylophones and other instruments. |
