9:10-10:00 - 5th grade (This is a great class!)
- Welcome them at the door.
- Please tell them that I am sorry I couldn't be there. That I am sick and went to the doctor. Any money, papers, or questions can be put in my metal mailbox behind the puppets.
- Take attendance with the seating chart in the binder sitting atop the music stand at the front of the room. Write the names of absent students on the sub report paper on the inside of the Substitute Binder. The binder is sitting on the whiteboard ledge to the left of the teacher desk. The cover is blue and says Substitute Binder on it.
- Today, students will be playing boomwhackers (long colorful tubes) that are located in four buckets at the BACK of the room. They've done this rather recently, but there are a few different songs in the playlist so it shouldn't be a completely repeated lesson.
- I have rules. Please review this with them.
- Boomwhackers are not to be played between songs.
- Boomwhackers are to be played on the palm of the hand, leg, or (as a last resort) the side of the shoe.
- Do not allow them to play them on the floor - this will flatten and crack the ends.
- Boomwhackers are not to be played between songs.
- Lead each team/column to retrieve their corresponding color tube one at a time from the BACK buckets. Red team gets red, orange gets orange, yellow - yellow, green - lime, blue - teal, purple - purple, pink - pink, brown - small red).
- Do not disperse the long tubes on top of the drums at the side of the room or the small tubes from the small black container by the puppets.
- Feel free to give out the sharps/flats tubes in the bucket at the front of the room by the puppets if the song calls for it. They are all labeled with whatever note they are. Select well behaving students for this. Ask Rose to help with finding them if you need help.
- Turn on the projector, use the directions in the binder to clarify any confusion.
- Play the videos one at a time from my playlist: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLjACIUTDB9ytlUrZqCBAb7JxNv1yFkSo0
- Students who disobey and play incorrectly or when they aren't supposed to can put their tubes back in the correct bucket and observe.
- Dismiss students to their corner line three minutes prior to dismissal. Leave me a list of the best behaved students.

2:25-3:15 - Second grade
- Welcome them at the door. This class talks incessantly and can be disrespectful. Be firm. Keep track of who is listening and singing and remind those who aren't that you're going to report to me who was well behaved and they will get to go to the treasure box when I return. Feel free to reward students at the end of class with a trip to the spider basket for a spider or skull ring.
- Disperse packets (found in the Yellow bucket labeled "C" found on the top of the bookshelf directly to the right of the back door).
- Allow captains to retrieve clipboards and pencils. The team(s) with all materials and no whining of fuss --as judged by you-- will get a reward when I return. Please make a note of it in the notes. Pencils are only sharpened if broken and no, there aren't enough erasers. They know this, I know this, there shouldn't be a big fuss about it. Try to catch anyone attempting to eat or mutilate their pencils, erasers, or clipboards.
- Show "Handel's Last Chance" DVD (on the desk with the red document camera) from the spot that the class can agree we last stopped.
- Tell the whole class that you will leave a list of helpful and kind students. I will give those students a reward when I return. Feel free to remove children who cannot keep hands to self. Especially watch Kaylany, Kevin, and Collin. Sometimes they have really good days and sometimes they don't. Send these students to timeout by the back door or to the office. If it continues, send the student to the office or dial 4100 for someone from the office to come retrieve him/her.
- Dismiss students to their corner line three minutes prior to dismissal. Leave me a list of the best behaved students.
