Listen to the 2019-20 Darnell Honor Choir sing The Star Spangled Banner!
Welcome to my website!August 12, 2020
Dear Darnell Family, It's the start of another year, but this one will be special. Even though things are uncertain right now, I'm happy to share that Music Class will continue in an online format. We will be able to do almost everything we have done -- just not together. I'm happy to share as much needed information as possible online. Please use the at the top of the page (or the drop down menu if you're using a tablet or phone) to navigate. I post all letters that are sent home, my music schedule, parent resources, and much more! A parent letter with information about Music Classes will go home to Darnell families the first week of school. Please look for it in your Infinite Campus Message Center, Class Dojo, on your student's Canvas Music Class Home Page, or here under the Letters Home tab. Please contact me with questions or concerns by email or Class Dojo. Sadly, we will not have Honor Choir until we are allowed to meet in person before school AND we have the certainty that it is safe to sing together again. However, I'm considering hosting a virtual Talent Show. Please keep your eyes open for an announcement in February and start practicing your acts now! Below is a list of needs for the Music Room. Thank you for your help. Music Room needs/Please save any of the following:
Ms. Van Eaton Proud Darnell ES Music Teacher since 2005 RecordersStudents do not currently have recorders at home to play. Please consider donating to my Donors Choose project - Playing Our Way to Learning so that fourth and fifth graders can have their own recorders.
Students in grades 4 and 5 will continue with their learning and playing of the soprano recorder throughout the year. Students in grade 3 begin recorder in February or March of the school year. The learning and playing of the recorder is a school district requirement. While the school will provide a fully-sterilized instrument for each student to use for the entirety of the school year, students cannot take this recorder home with them to practice. I strongly encourage parents and students to purchase their own recorder to use at home. Purchase of the right recorder will help the student to play better, sound better, and feel better about their playing. In addition, the ability to practice at home will raise their level of understanding and help them perform better on recorder tests. Recorder Kits cost $7.00 -- Please see the recorder sale flier for more information on how to obtain a recorder for your child. The Darnell Recorder Fundraiser is currently suspended until we can meet together again. We sell these items as a fundraiser to maintain and repair our classroom xylophones and other instruments. |
Ms. Van Eaton can be reached at Darnell Elementary during normal business hours.
