Darnell Choir Home Page

The Darnell Elementary School Honor Choir is taught by Ms. Van Eaton, Darnell Elementary School's Music Teacher. The class is open to third, fourth, and fifth grade students who are interested in improving their singing voice. Hopeful participants must audition due to limited space.

GOALS:
  • Prepare music for performances.
  • Improve our voices with beginner ear training techniques and vocal exercises.
  • To enjoy making music with others who also enjoy making music.
  • Learn what it means to be a part of an ensemble.
  • Develop personal responsibility.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Participate in the audition process
  • Complete the contract packet in full
  • Agree to buy a uniform
  • Download and utilize Class Dojo
  • Buy and use a folder and pencil

EXPECTATIONS:
  1. Weekly attendance
  2. Good behavior as determined by Ms. Van Eaton
  3. Prepared with folder and pencil at each rehearsal
  4. Turn-in weekly homework with parent initials
  5. Attend performances
  6. Practice at home a minimum of 15 minutes a week

MEETING TIME:
Students who pass their audition are invited to join our Choir on Wednesdays before school in the Music Room at 8:00 AM.

HOW TO ENROLL IN THE PROGRAM:
There will be auditions that will begin the third week of school. Information will go home with students during the second week of school. Students who wish to join but miss the auditions in August can apply in January.
